Freezer Burn

Here's the upside of the broken refrigerator thing from last weekend. I had to take a picture because it amused me that these were the only things to survive the great unplanned thaw:

Baking soda and pecans (in the door), a loaf of wheat bread, 1/2 a bottle of Absolute Citron, 2 bags of shucked edamame, and left over "fruit" flavored freezy pops- all our least favorite colors (the good guys were eaten up months ago...)

Seriously, have you ever seen a freezer so clean?!? Looking at this freezer, there is simply no way to tell the general state of disarray our home is presently in- Maybe the toilet will stop flushing and I'll have to clean that too!

a) speaking of ritual, it seems sad (and rather lazy) that you have shucked edamame

b) i would kill for an otter pop right now. even the lacking flavors...anything with artifical color and sugar. yummy

Frist of all, if you put frozen SHUCKED edamame in a plastic container and add some salt, and leave it at room temperature all day at work, it makes a refreshing, healthy, salty-yet-sweet snack for the long ride home. Said snack is particularly healthy if it frequently distracts your tastebuds and post-work mind enough to keep you from vering off the interstate to buy a McDonald's cheesburger...
Secondly, it turns out that the the shucked edamame might not have survived the great thaw after all... the soybeans tasted and smelled pretty funky the other day.
